  • Baking Soda Teeth Whitening

There exists a great way of whitening your teeth with the minimum amount of hassle and very low cost. You can do it at home by using a mixture of baking soda and peroxide. This method is time tested and has worked for a lot of people already. It can also work for you, if you do it the right way. You’ll have to repeat the process consistently over time, otherwise it’s not going to give you any significant results. But with a couple of repetitions, you will certainly see your teeth becoming whiter over time.

    Baking Soda Teeth Whitening

For baking soda teeth whitening, you will need two things. One is hydrogen peroxide, the other is baking soda.

First let’s talk about the hydrogen peroxide. You can get this stuff at any local drug store. Usually, it will be sold in concentrations of no more than 2% to about 3%. Chances of finding anything with a higher concentration than that are slim, but you certainly don’t need anything higher than that. Don’t ever get anything higher than 3%, though. It becomes much too aggressive above 3%.

When the hydrogen peroxide comes in contact with your teeth, it will start reacting right away. The chemical reaction that takes place is the hydrogen peroxide breaking down into water and oxygen. It’s going to foam a little, so don’t be scared. The chemical reaction breaks down the enamel that growns over your teeth. In doing so, the reaction reveals places where bacteria reside but where you previously could not reach with your brush. Brushing your teeth will now be much more effective!

Secondly, let’s talk about the baking soda. Because baking soda is a little bit abrasive, it can give your teeth a good scrubbing. Your teeth are still harder than the baking soda, so there is no risk of damaging your teeth. Baking soda will also kill off some micro organisms, thereby reducing the risk of getting irritated gums or other mouth diseases. The baking soda will also neutralize certain types of acid that contribute to plaque formation on your teeth.

The magic happens when you combine both the peroxide as well as the baking soda into one. Get a small cup and put a few drops of the hydrogen peroxide in it. Then add a big spoon of baking soda. Stir it around a little until you get a paste. Now brush your teeth with this paste for a few minutes and be sure to reach everywhere.

Afterwards, you must rinse your teeth really well with water. You don’t want any of the peroxide remaining on your teeth because it will continue to react. Afterwards, brush your teeth with a toothpaste that has lots of fluoride in it. This will help restore the protection of your teeth.

    Natural Teeth Whitening

Using baking soda and peroxide is a really good way of performing natural teeth whitening. It doesn’t cost much and it’s not that big of a hassle. Once you’ve done it a few times it becomes routine. Best of luck trying it out!
